Yes. We do house visits by appointment. However, if your animal is particularly unwell, we would always recommend coming into the hospital in case tests need to be performed.
We regularly travel to farms as far south as Milton and as far north as Berry. We also have clients in Burrier, Budgong and Barrengarry.
Yes. We offer payment plans through VetPay. Conditions and minimum limits apply so please contact the staff for more information.

Yes, appointments are required at both Nowra Veterinary Hospital and Bay and Basin Animal Hospital.

We’re always happy to help!

We don’t just give a quick injection and send you on your way. Our vets use this opportunity to do a full head-to-tail health check, including:

  • Checking teeth, gums, eyes, and ears
  • Listening to the heart and lungs
  • Palpating for lumps or bumps
  • Discussing any behaviour, appetite or weight changes
This thorough approach helps us catch any early signs of illness and give tailored advice for your pet’s age and lifestyle.
Most pets begin their vaccination schedule between 6 and 8 weeks of age, with follow-up boosters every few weeks until 16 weeks old. We'll guide you through the full schedule.
Yes – even indoor pets are at risk of exposure to certain diseases through indirect contact. Vaccinations are essential to protect your pet's long-term health.
It’s important to reschedule as soon as possible. Depending on how much time has passed, your pet may need to restart their course or receive a booster to maintain full immunity. Our team will review their records and guide you on next steps.

As a general guide:

  • Cats: around 4 months
  • Dogs: around 6 months
However, the ideal timing can vary based on your pet’s breed, size, and development. Our vets will give you tailored advice.

Desexing can:

  • Prevent unwanted litters
  • Reduce the risk of certain cancers and infections (e.g. pyometra in females)
  • Help manage behaviour such as roaming, aggression, and territorial marking
Not at all. Your pet’s personality will remain the same, though hormone-driven behaviours may settle. Desexed pets are often calmer and easier to manage.

Most pets recover well within 7 to 10 days. We’ll give you clear post-op instructions, but in general:

  • Limit activity
  • Prevent licking or chewing the wound
  • Monitor for swelling or redness
If you have any concerns during recovery, we’re just a phone call away.
We recommend yearly health checks for most pets and more frequent visits for senior pets, those with chronic conditions or those on long term medications.
Your pet needs protection from fleas, ticks, heartworms and intestinal worms. We’ll recommend a tailored schedule and the most effective products for their needs.
A healthy weight is key to a long, happy life. Our team can assess your pet’s condition and suggest appropriate diets, portion sizes, and activity plans.
Always get in touch. Even subtle changes can be signs of something more serious. Early intervention often leads to better outcomes and fewer costs down the line.
Internal medicine covers the diagnosis and management of illnesses that affect internal organs and body systems – including the liver, kidneys, heart, gastrointestinal tract, immune system, and more.
If your pet is lethargic, losing weight, eating less, vomiting, coughing, urinating more, or behaving differently – it’s always best to book a consultation. Many conditions respond better with early detection.
CT (Computed Tomography) provides highly detailed, 3D images of your pet’s internal structures. We may recommend a CT scan for complex issues involving the head, spine, lungs, joints or internal organs – particularly when X-rays or ultrasound don’t give the full picture.
In most cases, we can manage conditions in-house thanks to our diagnostic capabilities and medical experience. If a case requires advanced intervention, we’ll discuss referral options and support you through the process.
While we don’t routinely offer 24/7 onsite monitoring, we have vets on call after hours who can return to the clinic when needed. For cases that require overnight supervision, we’ll work with you to decide the best course of action.
Yes. Before any surgical procedure, we’ll examine your pet and discuss the best approach, including anaesthesia plans and recovery expectations.
Although all surgery and anaesthesia comes with some risk, this can be minimised with the right preparation. We recommend pre-anaesthetic blood testing for senior pets and use  tailored anaesthetic protocols.
Most day surgeries (like desexing or lump removals) allow for same-day discharge. More complex surgeries may require a longer stay – we’ll keep you fully informed.
Pain relief is a top priority. We use a combination of medications to keep your pet comfortable during and after the procedure.
In most cases, but we’ll let you know when your visit will be helpful to your pet’s recovery and when it’s better for them to rest.
Not always – but if your pet is unwell, showing unusual symptoms, or undergoing surgery, diagnostic testing often plays a crucial role in understanding what’s going on.
Yes – CT scans are safe and performed under light sedation or general anaesthetic. We monitor your pet closely, and the detailed imaging gives us a far clearer picture than traditional X-rays alone.
We can diagnose many conditions with our in-house tools. For particularly complex cases, we also work with external pathologists and specialists to ensure your pet receives the best possible care.
In many cases, yes. Our in-house equipment allows for same-day results, which means we can often begin treatment right away if needed.
Yes – even if they’re eating well, dental disease can be present. Regular checks help catch issues early and avoid more serious problems down the track.
Absolutely. Dental work – even a basic clean – requires a general anaesthetic to ensure safety and a thorough result. It also allows a detailed examination of the mouth.
It depends on their breed, age, and dental health. Some pets may only need a clean every couple of years, while others (especially small breeds) may benefit from annual care.
Yes, with proper preparation. We often perform dentals on senior pets, using pre-anaesthetic blood testing and tailored protocols to keep them safe.
If your pet has a medical condition like kidney disease, arthritis, diabetes, or food allergies, a prescription diet may be an important part of managing their health. These diets are scientifically formulated to support specific organs or systems and can significantly improve quality of life. Our vets will assess your pet’s condition and help you choose the most suitable diet if needed.

Even if your pet is in good health, feeding them a balanced, complete diet is essential to keep them healthy long term. Nutrition supports everything from immune strength to dental health, digestion, and joint care.

Feeding the same food for years without reviewing it – or choosing a low-quality diet – can lead to issues later in life. We can guide you on the best options for your pet’s breed, age, lifestyle, and risk factors to help them live a longer, healthier life.

Yes – we keep a broad range of products in stock. If your preferred diet isn’t available, we’ll order it in specially for you.
Not always. Our nurses can offer advice for general nutrition, but we recommend a vet consultation if your pet has a medical condition or special dietary needs.
Yes – premium diets are formulated to meet your pet’s nutritional needs more accurately, using higher-quality ingredients and fewer fillers. They often result in better coat condition, dental health, and digestion.
Absolutely. We’ll assess your pet’s weight, body condition score, and lifestyle, then provide a safe and structured plan – with regular check-ins to track progress.
Diagnosis is based on a combination of physical examination, your pet’s history, and sometimes imaging like X-rays. We’ll look for joint stiffness, pain, or swelling, and ask about any changes in behaviour or movement.
Cartrophen (pentosan polysulfate sodium) is an injection, usually given in a series over several weeks or months, that helps lubricate joints, improve blood flow to cartilage, and reduce inflammation. Many pets respond very well to this treatment.
We offer a variety of options to suit different needs and budgets. Many treatments are affordable, and we’ll always discuss the best balance of effectiveness and cost with you.
Yes – especially if they’ve had joint injuries or are a breed prone to hip or elbow dysplasia. Early management is key in these cases.
Yes – when prescribed and monitored by your vet, long-term arthritis medications can be both safe and effective. We’ll schedule regular check-ins to ensure your pet stays healthy while on treatment.
Yes – familiar items can help your cat settle in. You’re welcome to bring bedding, toys, or something that smells like home.
We provide high-quality food for all boarders, but if your cat is on a specific diet, we’re happy to feed your own supply. Just let us know at check-in.
All cats must be up to date with their F3 vaccination before boarding. Proof of vaccination will be required at the time of booking.
Yes – we regularly care for cats requiring daily medication or monitoring. Our veterinary nurses will ensure all treatments are given accurately and on schedule.
We do not offer general dog boarding. However, medical boarding is available for dogs who need ongoing care (e.g. diabetic or post-operative dogs) on a case-by-case basis, and according to availability. Please contact us to discuss your pet’s needs.
